SLICE® Sustainability Project - SLICE Monitor
What is the Slice Sustainability Project (SSP)?
The SLICE Sustainability Project (SSP), or SLICE Monitor as it’s known in UK, is a global initiative by the Aqua business of MSD Animal Health, the world’s leading animal health company for aquaculture. It is based on four core actions — Protect, Conserve, Renew and Succeed — that are essential for developing a sustainable sea lice control programme. The SSP was launched in 2010 and focuses on proven management practices to maximise impact of each SLICE treatment, conserve the efficacy of SLICE and implement its use appropriately as part of an Integrated Pest Management plan.
The SSP provides support through several channels, these include:
: bioassay – to establish lice sensitivity profile
: feed residue analysis - assess EmB levels within the feed post treatment
: flesh residue analysis – assess EmB levels within the fish post treatment
: sea lice – counts completed pre and post treatment
Information gathered from all of these steps should be collated and reviewed as a whole to measure the effectiveness of the treatment. MSD Animal Health technical team are here to assist you with the evaluation of your treatment, please contact your local representative to discuss further.
