For the past five years, VAKI has been combining innovation with customer demands to help maximise productivity in the aquaculture industry.

Now that the world of technology is becoming more familiar to us all, we caught up with our VAKI collegues to hear how technology enables greater insight on fish health and performance.

During our discussion, they mentioned that technology could really help support aquaculture going forwards.

“Since VAKI was established around 35 years ago, technology has developed drastically, from the use of infrared, to cameras, and then to WiFi based technology. We’ve made sure we have been at the forefront of these changes to ensure we are continuously delivering for customers.”

When asked about the role remote technology plays in supporting fish health and performance, it was felt that this had been a huge focus for aquaculture businesses recently.

Although remote technology has come on leaps and bounds, there’s still a place for face-to-face visits.

“You can’t fault that human interaction element, but remote technology has been invaluable and has demonstrated how capable it can be in specific situations. I think going forwards a combined approach of in-person site visits and remote technology will be the best combination.”
