The Importance of Early Puppy Protection
Innovative technology using a live canine hybrid parvovirus strain comprising a type 2c capsid-coding insert provides cutting-edge protection so puppies can be vaccinated earlier.
Maternally Derived Antibodies (MDA)
Maternally derived antibodies protect young puppies from disease in the first weeks of life, but decline over time.
Newborn puppies acquire antibodies from colostrum in their mother’s milk, which accounts for approximately 90% of the total MDA:
MDA levels can vary greatly between puppies, even within the same litter, and will decline as puppies get older in a predictable and exponential fashion.
However high levels of MDA can interfere with the effectiveness of vaccines. Traditional vaccines can only overcome low to moderate levels of MDA, which can leave puppies with an immunity gap and allow them to become susceptible to disease, despite vaccination.
Nobivac DP PLUS eliminates the immunity gap, allowing for earlier protection against parvovirus.
